Midway is funny. $31/100 this morning, $33/100 now.
I will say, IF the ELD-Match is as good as the Amax, at least one thing we can perhaps expect is better availability than the 162 Amax. That sucker could be hard to find. Clearly they were ramping it down or ceased altogether a couple years ago and it's just been NOS stashes showing up.
10at6, that honestly doesn't surprise me... an interlock crimp ring and thicker jacket simply HAS to make a bullet less accurate; it's just a question of degree.
But looking at it glass-half-full, if the ELD-X turns out to shoot great then it's the Holy Grail of LR hunting bullets... grin... what Nosler was trying for with the LRAB. "Works near to far..."

Such a shame, the bullets shoot great and the boxes are so easy to open...

I've seen that before and I'm convinced that sometimes they use software and cookies to determine what you are interested and then boost the price.

I suspect that this equivalence should work....
AMAX = ELD
SST = ELD-X
'nuff said.
Now does anybody know when Hornady are releasing a 285gn 338cal ELD-X?

Obey lawful commands. Video interactions. Hold bad cops accountable. Problem solved.

Ironically, found a box of 162 AM's on the shelf at Cabelas today. They came home with me.

The 162 ELD-M is the Amax with new tip, the data worked out the same when I loaded them, which was not a big surprise.... The ELD-X is still on backorder, but I heard they're expected very soon...

I still have a few thou of the old style bullets, hoping they last till the new ones make it out. Don't expect much changes in my load.

I have 3 or 4 hundred 162 gr A-Max's on my loading table and they should last a while for my 7x57.
A Doe walks out of the woods today and says, that is the last time I'm going to do that for Two Bucks.

I have 800 unloaded ones and that'll likely get me through this barrel on my heavy 7 WSM.... the new hunting version is intriguing but I doubt it shoots as good. But we'll soon find out.

The 162 gr Amax is a great hunting bullet as long as you keep the speed under 2800 FPS

I did have one come apart pretty drastically on a deer shoulder at ~ 2700 fps impact velocity, but it was certainly lethal.
