Some gents stay with one caliber in a favorite rifle for years. For you men that have shot the 7-08, what kind of critters have you taken with it? What is the largest? Whether it was planned or unplanned.

If it was an elephant, then kindly no ethics lecture.

Not hunted much with mine but have taken a pig in TX, and several whitetail in Tn.

I may not be smart but I can lift heavy objects

I have a shotgun so I have no need for a 30-06.....

Piles of caribou, and moose two or three times. For several years it was "the" rifle I carried even using it to shoo bears away.

I don't have one now, but have used the 7mm-08 on a truck-load of deer since about 1983'ish.
Always excellent results.
IMO, it's the best deer cartridge there is.

Moose is the biggest I have seen photos of around here.

I live in the Southeast US so nothing too much impressive with regards to stats but:
Deer in the 200 lb range and a couple of hogs that would pull a scale down past 300 lbs

It's the ballistic equivalent of the 7mm Mauser. In the old days of the ivory hunters, many an elephant had been taken cleanly with a brain shot using this caliber with 175 grain solids.

Several deer and antelope with the 7-08. Two elk and a bison also. Seeing as I didn't get an elk this year i have booked another bison "hunt". I'll use the 7-08 again and 140 grain TSX. Worked fine last time.
