My brother shot this nice 8pt at the ranch this weekend. He scored 127 4/8, was 8.5 years old, and dressed out at 144. We saw him Sat a.m., but he didn't stick around long enough for a shot. Sat p.m. I spotted him back in the brush prior to entering the sendero so my brother was able to start getting his rifle up as the buck stepped out...the buck walked across the sendero and made the fatal mistake of pausing right before disappearing into the brush. My brother made a perfect shot in a rushed situation...he didn't go 20 yards after being hit by the 140gr AccuBond (Win factory load) out of his .270 win. This buck was a big 7pt last year and this is the 3rd year he has been on the "hit list"...we finally got him. I think he's a great looking buck...a trophy in my book!
Great buck and super trophy. In my book any Whitetail that is 5-1/2 or older is a trophy no matter what the headgear looks like. This buck has some nice head gear, especially for one you wanted to cull.
Your perseverance paid off -- congratulations to all.
Good intentions will always be pleaded for every assumption of authority. It is hardly too strong to say that the Constitution was made to guard the people against the dangers of good intentions. -- Daniel Webster
Really nice buck. I'm surprised a 270 didn't just bounce off. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Congrats to your brother on a great buck.

I'm glad it didn't bounce off b/c I "only" had a 25-06 as back-up! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />
