Author Woodard take a fresh look at North America on cultural, rather than political, lines.

This book was recommended by a 24HCF member, as he felt that it did a good job of explaining why members from different geographic regions often have such different perspectives on things, both current and past. After reading it, I agree with his assessment.

Woodard says that his book is a history of eleven rival regional cultures of North America.

Deep South
El Norte
First Nation
Greater Appalachia
New France
New Netherlands
The Far West
The Left Coast
The Midlands
Tidewater
Yankeedom

It really makes you think and if Woodard is right, The United States have never really been very united.
