This part cracks me the [bleep] up.
"It is said on several forums that this revolver is literally worth its weight in Gold. That being the case, it weighs 44 oz. and gold is at 1267 per troy oz which comes to 50,680. So you are getting a bargain at less than half price."

Actually there were 23 of them that left the factory. Last prices (actually being paid) I saw were in the 1500-2K ballpark. Roughly double MSRP.

No matter what you pay, at the end of the day you would still only have a Ruger...

Yep. And rare shouldn't always mean valuable. In most cases, they are rare because they were undesirable to consumers when produced.

Well, heck. I have a LH stainles short action Ruger Hawkeye in .308, there were only 19 made. I also have a LH stainless Hawkeye in .223, of which there were also only about 17 or 18 made.
I'd let either one go for $20,000 or a package deal of $37,500 for the pair.
Get'em now, 'cause the prices go up on April 1st...

Why on earth did they make a 5 shot .480 Super Redhawk? I could see 5 shots in a smaller frame, but in the SRH you might as well add the 6th round.
Factory "mistakes" do have some collectible value, but not huge amounts, usually. This one looks like a mistake.
My .475 Turnbull #1 is one of less than one of a hundred, and it shoots well, too. I'd take it way before a factory mistake.

The 5 shots weren't a mistake, they were to try and combat the extraction problems that the 6 shots were known for.

After they made the run of 5 shots, they made a clean up run of 6 shots. I got a half dozen of those. Then in the last couple of years they brought out some more 6 shooters. They finally figured out how to keep the brass from sticking in the cylinder. I really like mine, and even at my age, I don't see me ever being with out one. Nice guns. Fellow must be smoking some good stuff to think he's going to get that over on someone.

The guy selling that gun is obviously smoking crack if he thinks he can get that much for it. However, they only made a handful of five-shot .480 Alaskans and as such, they are highly collectible. Value would be more like $1500-$2000. The five-shot configuration is how Ruger should've produced them in the first place. No matter what you pay, at the end of the day you would still only have a Ruger... As opposed to what, a dainty little S&W or Colt???

What would it be worth if Ruger reintroduces a five shot .480 Alaskan? Ruger reintroduced the 5.5". 45 Colts. I spent 2 years looking for one and finally traded for one. Now there common again. I would hate to be the guy that spent 25k. And next week Lipseys brings out a limited run of 2000 of them.😬

Would one of you please click on the "Buy It Now" button and tell me what it feels like to pay $25k for a $900 pistol. http://www.gunbroker.com/Ruger-Super-Redhawk/Browse.aspx?Keywords=Ruger+Super+Redhawk

Perhaps we could send the link to the military procurement department at the Pentagon.
The F-35 development team might be very interested in this...
