Hi all,
Haven't previously considered this caliber, but since it appears it is now legal in Indiana, I will consider it. I already have a bolt gun with a WSM boltface. I think a .300 wsm or a .243 wssm would both be legal by the new rules. What do you guys think about this 6mm?

Thanks,
kstockfo

I think that all of the WSSM cartridges are poor choice due to the lack of commitment from Winchester/Olin to make ammo and brass available to WSSM rifle owners on a consistent basis. If you look at WSSM ammo on the internet, most sellers are price gouging an audience of users who have no viable alternatives.

The 243 WSSM matches the 243's performance and the 25 WSSM matches the 257AI. I haven't shot either the 223 or 243 WSSM much, but I'm a huge fan of the 25 WSSM in the Winchester/USRA 70.

I have a 25wssm, great little cartridge. Brass is tougher to find but I was able to find 12 bags a couple months ago. It's a decent cartridge in the AR15 too.

Very tough to get ammo for.

I've been told, 2nd hand, that Winchester/Olin is currently running WSSM. 243 WSSM now, and 223 WSSM and 243 WSSM in the consecutive months.

Boy-oh-boy am I hoping that inside scoop is real. I know the shelves are full of the more bread and butter ammo now, so the specialized may be getting more attention.

PS: I hope everyone who is price gouging gets stuck with a pile over overpriced ammo/brass and ends up taking a loss. No cartridge is worth $5 a round, unless it is a tank killer.
