Hello, I got this Savage 111 in a partial trade about a year ago, but can't find specific info on it. I contacted Savage, but they could only tell me it was made in 1995. Customer service suggested I send a letter to a Savage historian(John Callahan in Mass.), but I didn't get a response from him.

It is chambered in .30-06, 22" barrel, black synthetic stock with silver logo under the pistol grip. What is different than most models I've seen is it has integral weaver style bases on the receiver. They are part of the receiver, not welded or silver soldered on. Any info on this model would be appreciated.

Not quite the right timeframe, but awfully close.

Thank you...sounds like it, but mine is definitely stamped model 111. I have the blue book, but was looking only for the 111. Thanks again.

Serial number puts it at 1974, the first year the 111 was catalogued.

That is strange with the integral mounts as they didn't catalogue them with those in 74, just says drilled and tapped for mounts.

OR maybe I'm seeing a B at the start of the serial number and it's not. If it's an E then your rifle is correct, I have one the same year in 7mm-08 with those mounts, took a lot of bucks with it.

Ya, made in 95, makes more sense now.

It was originally a package gun, came with rings and a scope from the factory as well. They fail to mention in the 95 catalog that the mounts are integral.

Sorry that you did not get an answer from me. When a question or inquiry comes up on a 1995 or newer Savage, I forward the inquiry to the company for response. At their request I deal with everything before 1995. JTC

No problem JTC,this is my first Savage centerfire, so I'm pretty clueless about them; I was surprised when I couldn't find it in the blue book though.

The pkg deal sounds right, as it has Savage marked rings, and a Bushnell Sportview "give away" 3-9 scope.

Just in case you don't know, JTC is the Savage Historian and the source of factory letters.
