I have never had a M70 that was a clunker. If you want a nice 350 look in the classifieds as there is a nice one on a Pre64 M70 FWT platform.

I can see where those would be fabulous if I were wanting to shoot over my shoulder, using a mirror. whistle

I paid $900.00 cash for it and later sold the mount and scope to my gunsmith for $75.00. So the rifle ended up costing me $825.00. I used the rifle and learned I like the grand ol 30-06 better. Just a bias I have since I grew up using the ol 06 and the short cartridge didn't really do it for me.... Anyway, here's the rifle. It was a great one. I ended up selling it here (to a member) and I think he likes it. However, the short 308 cartridge just didn't cut the mustard for me... wink

It wasn't a tack driver by any stretch of the imagination (my 30-06 and 270 fwt are better shooters), but did alright for a fwt rifle:

Like my friend always tells me, "just be patient and another one will come along". At least in these parts they do. It sounds like some of you guys that live in KY or other parts of the country may not have it as good.

Not going to be easy to replace that gun for $825.00....

No love up in here for the little 600s. I love 600s I have at least one in every caliber made except the .223. They are very accurate nice compact little rifles. Like you I also have the 660 in .350 Mag as well as the 600 Magnum. I have had several pre 64 Winchesters (not in .308) and have sold them off. But every 600 I come across gets a place in the safe. Different strokes for different folks.

Good thing I sold it for $1,200.00 then... wink . Pretty good riddance too. My 30-06 is a much better rifle. All the way around.. So is the 270 for that matter...

Not sure why some obviously educated + the usual suspects can't read the title at the top of the page..

I agree. Lets get back to the topic at hand. My buddy bought his for $500.00. It's been a pretty good shooter since he first showed it to me. Here is when we were working up a load for it when it was in it's original stock:
[Linked Image]

He wanted me to duplicate his hunting load, which is the Hornady light magnum 150gr. hornady interlock load. The light magnum is still faster than my handload, but not by too much. Here's how the light magnum load shoots in his rifle after I glass bed it for him. I know you guys have seen this, but I was looking through my pictures and found it pretty interesting. Looks like the accuracy was duplicated pretty well. Not bad for a $500.00 rifle...:

Also, for guys that don't know how to find these rifles for sale, here are a couple:

308 fwt

nicer 308 fwt

another 308 fwt

yep

honest wear on this one
