Howdy, everybody!I have a small question to ask you...it might sound dumb but you'll have to bear with me...is there a 22 that can safely push a 80 grain pill at 3700+?I'm talking about halfway sensible stuff that people actully get sometimes-not stuff like the 22-50BMG or the 22 earsplittenloudenboomer...

Maybe a 22/6mm. My Cheetah was fast, but I didn,t mess with heavy bullets in 22's. Still don,t!

northidaho,

welcome, man. The .22-6 might get there. It may have been a .22-243 AK or the .22 Extremist. I can't remember which one did that.

I think the answer is no.

Even if you moved up to 6mm caliber you'd be hard-pressed to get 3700+. For example, the 240 Wby is only about 3500 for an 80gr bullet.

I was gratified to be able to answer promptly, and I did. I said I didn't know.

I was getting 3800+ fps from my Cheetah back in the early 80's using 52 grain bullets with no problems. No pressure signs and brass life was OK. Shot the barrel out after about 1700 rounds.
