With the hamstrung twist, this is what I'd be running too...

Trump is unelectable. And it is common knowledge he will ban .22 250s

I've got a 22-250AI with a 1 n 14" twist. It loves 52 grain Nosler match. Shoots 1:2 MOA at 300 yards. That's as far as I can shoot it down here.

I hardly can see a target at 600 yards and am no authority on shooting a .22/250 at that distance, but I love that cartridge for all sorts of things and if a good scope would give me a chance at 600, I would shoot the 75 grain bullets. I don't have a .22/250 twisted as needed for that, but the .220 Howell should do the trick.

Shoot 60gr Nosler Solid Bases in my Ruger 220 Swift with a 1:14 twist just fine. Range I have only runs out to 300 yds, still holds 2' or less groups.

I'd consider the 80's. 22 holes are hard to see.....until they keyhole.
I would not buy something that runs on any kind of primer given the possibility of primer shortages and even regulations. In fact, why not buy a flintlock? Really. Rocks aren't going away anytime soon.

Any accurate bullet will be fine unless the wind blows, which it always does, and in which case light bullets are worthless. In this caliber you need 80 grain match bullets. They in turn need a twist of 1:8 or better. I don' t understand why manufacturere make 1:14 barrels because they have no useful purpose.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.

Dave Dave, I build rifles like this for the singular purpose of shooting 600yd BENCHREST ( as was mentioned in the OP ), the WR for which is just .349 C2C. world record Even your alcohol addled mind has to understand thats less than 1/2 an inch. If the OP had said " I wanna f!uck around with my 14 twist and see how many shots I can send downrange and hopefully hit something...?" I'd have said "55 gr Berger and good luck" but he said "I'd like to try 600 yd BENCHREST." 2" at 300 ? really only kinda sorta comes close to resembling BENCHREST groups at that distance. ... but your implied amazement at the group reveals ... nevermind , have a nice weekend.

I would think an OCD, benchrest loving, dork like yourself would notice that, that member stated his Swift shoots a 2 FOOT group @ 300yds. I can only assume it was a typo and my post was intentionally facetious.

but he said "I'd like to try 600 yd BENCHREST."
No he didn't. He said he wanted to try 600yd benchrest with his Model 70 chambered in 22-250 and twisted 1-14". Can't say its the best use of one's time, but then again, shooting 22LR's @ 350yds isn't the most practical thing in the world either. But I still do it on occasion. Dave

We never had any problems with 80 JLKs either. Messing around with light bullets is going to be just that. Messing around.

Just because the man said BENCHREST doesn't mean he's going to compete in BENCHREST competition . I took it that he meant ' i'm going to shoot from a bench w/a good rest using my winchester 22-250' . Nice rifle though .
jnyork ,
Ingwe's ,
Advice with the 52gr amax would be where I'd start and Varget powder . Don't take any other advice from him though . Smileface here .
Haven't tried my 22-250 that Mickey built for me at 600yds. , had a good spot out to 453 yards and shot some 3" groups for three shots at that range on low too no wind days. The 55gr. sierra blitzking had the highest BC a few years ago -now I guess it's the 53gr v-max . My rifle loves the bliztkings and 40gr. of H-380 ,cci lr primer ,winchester case, 20K off lands.

Spook, 'Flave didn't typo. Some other guy assumably typo'd so 'Flave used the opportunity to make a joke. No apology required. Ever. Love, Dave the 'Flave

Fellers, this is just for a little club match we shoot about 5 times a year. 600 yards, benchrest, prone off a sandbag, off the crosssticks, bipod, whatever, shoot what you bring. The course of fire is 10 shots for record in 20 minutes. You simply start shooting and when you have 10 consecutive shots you are proud of, including the last shot, you quit. No prizes, no money , shoot for glory. I just want to go out and see what is the best I can do, just for fun. A few years ago a guy won it with an absolutely stock Bushmaster AR 15 and a 3x9 scope. I like to shoot just for fun, I don't do well among all the win-at-any-cost guys, too much drama for me.

J, that sounds like fun!
FWIW my first center-fire rifle was a 14 twist 22-250.
Push feed M70, used to shoot factory loaded 55 grain Winchester soft points like a raped ape.

22/250 doing 3700 FPS in a 14 twist has the same rotational stability as a 223 12 twist at 3200FPS. Not a problem there. Wind is the big thing

I thought you were banished? Not banished. Just limited the amount I can post. Particularly in the Gunwriters Forum. Only one post a day. Dave
