Great buck and story. however, I really like that rifle! that has got to be the most "classic" model 70 hunting rifle a fellow could ask for. I had one but I like your better.

Great story, sounds like a great place to hunt.

Thanks, Warhawk. We've been hunting this place for over 15 years, and it still has appeal!

Thanks, Rackmastr. And thanks for the link to the "albertagame.com" site. I'll need to spend a little time there when I get the chance.

Super story! Thanks for the effort with those photos.....and I love the stand!

Hate jerks that tear stuff up........

Thanks, Stan. This is one ofthe few deer I have field photos of. Had to share some of them. My SOP is to take the shot at the end of the day.

The stand was a labor of love!

And we do agree on "jerks".

257bob, thanks, he is a fine buck. Now, that rifle is my avatar rifle, and she is the finest production rifle I've personally ever seen; and she encompasses every quality I desire in a hunting rifle. Just for you, here is the pic in my avatar that shows the off side. Enjoy! [img][image]http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v491/colt357/70SGatstand.jpg[/img][/image]

DCUP, your welcome.

As for the pics? I guess I'm just lazy...if every pic is worth a 1000 words, you can see how much typing I saved myself.

Colt,

The pic of your model 70 is one of the best pictures of a rifle I have ever seen. One of the best pics I have seen on this site.

Probably one of the best pieces of wood I have ever seen on a factory rifle.

Congrats again.

hicountry, thanks again. I wish I could get all my pics to come out as nice as that one.

Yes it has an awesome piece of wood. I had always dreamed of having a rifle with a nicely figured stock, and could hardly believe my eyes when I went down to pick it up. The pics in the magazines of the proto types of this model were all quite plain, but the writers all said the production models would have a little better grade stocks. So when I ordered it, I expected something a little above most production pieces, but certainly not this far above. And, to top it all off...she shoots!!!

Excellent...this postreminds me of the old "Fred Bear" movies I used to see at the picture show!
