doing good up here. our 2 boys just left with my truck and trailer (I got a new to me truck, 08 f250 6.4 deezil) The boys are headed out to chicken buck to bring the tractor home from camp. We kind of need the little tractor at home this spring for a few jobs. The boys will have to park the truck and trailer short of camp because the trail in will be terrible. They will have to walk the last 3/4 mile in and drive the tractor out through the mud, load it on the trailer and bring it home.
Nice little evening adventure for the boys.

Good luck GG on Prior! It's kinda nice watching the momma Fox and her kits at work with the shop doors open in this warm weather. Kinda funny, the shop I work at is just outside downtown Minneapolis and we have a dirt hillside with some brush and trees in the back of our lot. We see deer, turkeys, woodchucks and plenty of gray squirrels and rabbits. Well, we've had a male fox for two years now come and go and he somehow found himself a lady friend and now we have 8 little ones running around. Yup, 8 of em! The best part is with momma running around watchin her little ones, she has kept the bums away and not making a mess.

Prior's got a couple shallow mud bottom bays that warm up really quick. One's a lot better than the other, as it's got more wood in it. They sit in those trees and you can just quietly sneak in and pick them off one at a time. The key is you have to all most flip for them. When they're on the wood they won't come out to chase. If your more that a foot from the wood, you're too far out. I've seen some carp back in there big enough to put a saddle on, and a couple years ago, I caught a 5 lbs. goldfish back there. I'm sure someone on the lake got tired of feeding him and turned him loose in there. They found some kind of piranha dead in there a few years back. It was some breed that's vegetarian, but had no chance of surviving in there. Folks shouldn't be putting non native stuff in our lakes and streams. Nothing good comes from this.

I tried for crappies on saturday before getting rained out. nada one, did get 3 trout that were returned to the water as fast as I could get rid of them. can't stand them trout, but the kids love em. I may have to try tossing jigs into the shallows, maybe that will work.

Lotsa stuff going on here. I retired from the gun shop after almost 11 years. Well,I will still fill in for vacations but that's all. I am in my second week of my second retirement and getting a lot of stuff done. Picked up a really nice CVA "Hunter" model in 7MM-08.Got a good deal at the shop. It has a nice Tasco 3X9X40 mil dot scope. Dadgum thing shoots FANTASTIC! I have a thing for single shots. Have a few in the safe. Went to a gun show last week end. Bought a "Judge",blue with 4" barrel. Very good shooter with the .45 long Colt round. Good woods carry companion piece. Turned the air conditioning on yesterday.

Enjoy the second retirement Stan. I have three nights left before I start my first retirement. I'm hoping it will be the only one. Bill

Well done on the retirements Stan and Bill! Headin' up nort for 5 days of hunting toikeys and morels. Maybe a few libations as well. So far the menu has salmon, perch, venny tender loins and backstraps, then one day of store bought meat - steaks. Beer will be our carbs and to complete our food group...potato chips as the veg. Or i guess fiddle heads if they're popping. Life is good!

Congrats on the retirement fellas!
I took the day off yesterday and went and helped my Dad cut down a dead Elm tree in his yard. Then I did some long range black bird sniping over a cattail swamp with my 22-250.
That Ruger M77 never ceases to amaze me. I got it at a gun show in the early 90's and it remains my favorite gun ever. I slapped a Redfield Revolution 3-9x40mm Accu-Range scope on it a couple years ago. Now that Leupold makes Redfield scopes, they are quite nice.

Congrats Stan!
Jim, that sounds like fun. Expecting some gobbler pics from Ryan anytime now....
Meanwhile it's Prom day, Nathan's senior prom. I'm smoking a test hit for a large batch of pulled pork I need to do for graduation.
