I picked up a Sako 85 Finnlight chambered for a 7mm Rem Mag. To mount a Zeiss Conquest, I decided to try the Sako Optilock Ringmounts.

The rear mount isn't an problem. Because of the long slope of the Zeiss bell (front), however, there's no way to move the front mount forward to the midpoint of the rail. This is where Sako says it should be mounted. As I trust everyone but me knows, the Sako rail is a dovetail design where moving the ring mount position shifts the scope left to right. One side of the ringmount is fixed; the other has the fasteners.

I could put a shim in, but that feels pretty cheese-tacular. Are there any other options anyone would recommend, or better yet, has anyone encountered this same issue?

I used these bases on a Sako 75 IV 30-06 action and had a Swarovski 4-12x50 in low mounts . They mounted to the middle of the dovetail.

I just ordered them from Optics Planet. I'll figure how what to do with the ringmounts... probably just buy another rifle. I may pick up a Picatinny rail for the 85 but they aren't giving those away. It looks like Talley makes something for the Sako as well. Can't imagine Talley letting me down. Thanks for the response, amigo.

I prefer Leupold ring mounts. Never any issues.

Talleys require set screws and they will mark the checkering on the top of the receiver. I really prefer Optilock all over others because it is tough for the scope to slip if the rings are tightened correctly . All I use on Tikka or Sakos
