I bought a Sig P6 and like it quite a bit, it came with a holster, and one extra magazine. Now I think a Glock 40 S&W with 3 15 Rd mags might be good to have because bad guys seem to travel in groups. I want this for shooting zombies not paper targets.

I've Bought several pd trade ins
Other than a magazine issue with one Sig, I've never had a problem...as as rule I replace the night sights...but that's largely personal preference

Most of the trade-ins have not been shot a lot, some are even NIB.
Right now, Bud's Gun Shop has a bunch of S&W M&P's in 9mm, .40 S&W, and .45ACP, some un-issued.
Please keep in mind that most cops are NOT gun guys/gals and only shoot them when they have to qualify, so the magazines and night sights (if any) are the only thing that you really have to be concerned with.

I traded off my Sig P220 SAO, and carry a Glock 17.

Friend picked up a Glock 22/.40 S&W last year that had been a LE gun. Paid a lot less than the going price for a new one. He added a 9mm barrel and hasn't shot a round of .40 out of it yet.
Now that a lot of agencies are going back to 9mm from .40 S&W there will be a lot of them on the market.

Mega Ditto on CDNN. I bought 3 used Glock 22's from them last year at $350 a pop. Mechanically I have NEVER had an issue with a police trade in.
How much will they be next year.

I bought my P229 DAK from summit gunbroker for 350 I do a lot of trading with Mark, known him for ages. Good people. He had a shop in Independence when I was a rookie cop (early 80's) and I did some revolver work for him on the side.

california as we all know likes to spend money. So the departments dump their stuff in arizona so they can buy the new toy. I have a brand new in the box glock 22, still haven't fired it, but paid 350bucks for it. I also got a springfield m1A scout rifle originally with a calif. dept still had the gold grease inside it from the factory. It's embarrassing what i paid for it.

I pity the fool who gets stuck with the pistol I'm about to trade in. But 99% of them have barely been shot.

Model 10 Smith's and Glock 22, can always send the Glock in for a service if any doubt.

If you decide to part with the P6, let me know.

I have a P6 as well, forgot about it being a trade in since I'd never heard of them until they became trade ins! Typical Sig goodness....

They kind of grow on you. I would like to own one of their service rifles.

I picked up an unissued M&P in 40S&W marked Detroit PD w/ 3-15 round magazines and night sights still have some life left from Bud's last week for $400.00. This was my first purchase from Bud's and I think it was a great deal. Over the years I have purchased several LE trade-ins and so far they all have been an excellent value. As previously noted most tend to have more holster wear than actually being shot and will give long service.

There are a lot of these guns that are 40's. Apparently it has fallen out of favor, I understand, particularly with PD's so if you like the cartridge, now would be a good time to buy.
