Just curious what model it is. WHY is the number significant??????????????????? norm I have the forearm off of it, a really nice pre-war R with 3 point checkering, and am wondering what it's wearing now or if it didn't get built or what. Just my curiosity.

Wow, you have the amputated forearm. I'd say the wood was likely pulled off for one of two reasons. The rifle got a makeover with a "custom" stock (likely a Bishop or Fajen replacement) or it was trashed. It would be interesting if you if you ever got an answer.
