Big picture for those who do not know.
Old Testament = Atonement for sin is LAW.
New Testament = Jesus died on the cross and fulfilled the law with the New Covenant and Christians are no longer under the Law.

In short, following all those old laws were really cramping a lot of folks styles.
Shazam, enter the immaculate conception, believe in that kid and you ain't got to worry about all those troublesome laws.

Bible is full of scheit that is just, well...scheit. All o' them 'begats' and "unclean" laws, and dietary rules, and how many cubits thisaway and thataway the tabernacle has to be...somma that kinda stuff is hard to get through. Oh, and also she bears tearing kids to pieces because they teased a bald headed man and somma the other butcherin' bunches of people kinda stuff that's in there...kinda hard to get through. Yeah, the Old Testament is - if you insist on reading it like an instruction manual instead of a history book.

This is a common misconception. The immaculate conception wasn't about Jesus and it's not in the Bible. It's a Catholic invention that says that Mary was born without sin. Protestants don't believe in it.

So the sin of consuming bacon is not a sin in God's eye if committed post-Jesus?

Regardless, it all (Old Testament) boils down to...as Jesus Himself said...loving God and loving others. That's it. That's what it's 'all' about...same as the New Testament.

Many of the OT laws are related to food and health. In the time of Moses, meat was often eaten raw or poorly cooked. Pigs were allowed to run loose and human hygiene was very poor. Pigs carried diseases and were dangerous to eat. When God declared them as unclean, he wasn't kidding.

Did pigs become safer to eat immediately after the death of Jesus?

So the sin of consuming bacon is not a sin in God's eye if committed post-Jesus? Correct. For Christians, Jesus, the New Covenant, abolished the Mosaic Law.

Look - Mosaic law was a compilation of instructions to the people of the nation of Israel, after having left the confines and influence of pagan Egypt. Partly for their own good and partly as a means of separating them from the world as God's people.
History.
As the story unfolds in the New Testament, we learn why that does not necessarily apply to us.

As the story unfolds in the New Testament, we learn why that does not necessarily apply to us. So God's laws is specific for the Jews. For non-Jew humans, it is optional?

Moral Law (basically 10 Commandments, summarized as love God & others) is universal to all people and times. Commit murder or adultery and it is sin. Period. Ceremonial Law, things like the sacrifices & ceremonies, were temporary and were superceded after Jesus' Resurrection.
As has been said, read the whole Book.
