Put some turkeys to bed the night before and got set up at o' dark one hundred yesterday morning. In my haste to get out of the house I left my call paraphernalia behind except for the "Egg".
There was the typical turkey noise at first light and fly down racket and some birds moved off to my right out of range in the hayfield. I made some clucks on the "Egg" and a jake came running/flying at my decoys. When he stopped to check them out a tom came over a rise in the field and the jake skedaddled.
After the jake departed the tom slowed to a halt about 75 yards out and weaved back and forth showing stink eye at the decoys. Some purrs on the "Egg" and he was all sexed up and closed the distance and that is when he laid an egg.
