Indeed my friend, the people watching rates a solid 10!

Nascar says 450 for plates, 850-900 without.

Not at all really. Just a different take. He is no dummy thats for sure.

Just like I have no use for watching any sports on TV and rarely in person.

I don't watch racing either.

Although sitting back in the evening watching the sunset and all thats going on in nature around us is much better than most anything on TV.

Pump shaft was a mother........

LOX T one end. Rocket at the other.

Five F1 engines estimated 160,000,000 hp. 7,500,000 lbs of thrust.

The stand they tested it on was rated to 12,000,000 lbs of thrust.

Now THAT was loud.

Used to take my daughter out of school to go to Pamona for qualifying on Thursdays

Getting her to the start line for Top Fuel the first time was great. She was hooked.

And for years the teams grossly underestimated the hp of the nitro burners until it was pointed out they couldn't be turning in those times with the amount of hp the teams estimated the engines were making.

Then folks should just simply not comment. Adds zero to the thread.

I have been going for years and it still amazes me how much you can feel in it your chest from the stands especially near the finish line.

And drag racing isn't for everyone. Some of the things that appeal to me are the challenges from out witting your competitor to engine/car development that others haven't discovered. That is very gratifying to me.

One of those things that must be seen (and felt) to be believed.
Audio and video simply cannot capture the violence accurately.....then there's the Nitro fumes. wink

I urge everyone to go to one of these events once in your life.
One of the most extreme experiences in the world...

I can remember, as a kid, the Winternationals held at Beeline dragway on the Salt river indian reservation. It was about 5 miles from my house but you could hear the top fuelers take off. It was amazing then and still is now. Beeline is long since gone and moved to Firebird (if they still do it there?)

I don't remember a question posed, just a comment that said "I'd rather watch my grass grow".
I understand if a guy isn't interested in drag racing or top fuel cars. That's fine. There's lots of things posted on here that don't interest me either.
But, if it doesn't interest you, why would you feel compelled to post in the thread? For crying out loud, if you haven't any interest, you've obviously got nothing constructive to add! If you'd rather watch grass grow, go head and do it! It used to be called "minding your own business"!

No you can't.

Unless you've seen them in person you simply cannot understand.
Many fool themselves into thinking they can, but they're wrong....horribly wrong.

11,000 horsepower, 325 mph in a 1000 ft course in under 4 seconds are numbers the average human brain simply cannot comprehend, combined with the loudest, most violent, thunderous exhaust note imaginable......makes NASCAR look like a pitiful joke.

What's so tough about driving in a straight line for 1,000 feet?
