Bought a PT&G Extreme action. Had it barreled and finished. Opted for Cerakote. Smith mentioned that the action had very tight tolerances and we probably should not coat the bolt. So we just did the shroud. Came back looking great but now the bolt throw is no longer smooth. Does not bind up, but a little sticky. Wondering if I should have blued or Black T. Thoughts?

ps shoots good.

Could be a bit of residue inside the receiver on the lug surfaces. Get a brush in there, clean, and try again..

It could also be the receiver's bolt raceways and sleeve survaces. If the tolerances were 'tight' to begin with, any coating there is going to affect your bolt throw..

Nope, clean. Just wondered if anyone noticed rough bolt throw after have Cerakote as opposed to other finishes. It may smooth out with use.

Hopefully they didn't blast your lugs. Coat the back edge of the bolt lugs with some clean grease as thin as you can get it. Cycle a couple times and pull it out....any signs of grit?
