Sunday i make a trip to take the kayak out to a favorite small lake and have a pretty good time on the water. Weather was sunny but not overly hot, & spent about 6 hours paddling the lake & catching fish. took care to wear a long sleeved thin mesh shirt that breathes well but blocks sun, and wore my big wide brimmed boonie hat, so was good there. But, in a classic moment of dipshittery, i rolled my pants to knee high when getting in the 'yak, and there they stayed, for 6 hours. From the top of my socks to just below my knees, i got roasted. Today, blistering up, & it hurts like a sumbitch. hydrocortisone has helped, and i remembered as a kid when we got burnt, vinegar compresses were said to help, and they made it feel a bit better, although some articles online said that was a myth....myth it may be, but it felt better to me. What has worked well for you when dealing with burns?

America needs to understand that our troops are not 'disposable'. Each represents a family; Fathers, Mothers, Sons, Daughters, Cousins, Uncles, Aunts... Our Citizens are our most valuable treasure; we waste far too many.

Lots of flaxseed or fish oil capsules. I spread flaxseed oil on toast like it's butter. Take that and drink plenty of water, maybe an aspirin or 2, and you'll be feeling better in no time.

Aloe, big glass of water and two ibuprofen. You won't believe it until you do it. It's like an overnight healing. And the ibuprofen kills the burning inflammation

Aloe, yes! Wonderful stuff. Never got good results from the bottled product, but wonderful results from snipping off a stalk from a plant.
Definitely some aspirin or ibuprofen, and some kind of pain killing spray.
Be not weary in well doing.

Interesting. my best results are with the aloe w/ lidocaine.
I use the same stuff as an aftershave.

Aloe. 'After sun lotion' with aloe too. Lots of water, ibuprofen. I suggest straight up aloe vera for the first 48 hours as needed in addition to the after sun lotion. The aloe itself really cools the skin and helps the burning sensation, at least temporarily.
Booze as needed to forget about it long enough to well, forget about it.
I got burnt bad a few months ago. Was peeling for 2 weeks. Only hurt for a few days. But dandruff is a biotch when you shave your head, and that hurt like the dickens when I shaved.
It's about like this:
"Do you puff peters?"
"Hell no!"
"NAZI!!!"

Always works for me,some pain from sunburn,1 part vinegar,2 parts water, real pain 2 parts vinegar,2 parts water in a bath tub and just lay and soak for about 15-25 minutes.Cool water helps ease the pain and then gently rub aloe on it.

I have used Aloe and Noxzema. Noxzema seems to cool better and doesn't leave a crusty/dried egg white feeling like aloe does.

Rub the egg whites from an egg or two on the burned area and it will heal it up faster. Should fix you up.

I grew up in the Vinegar camp as well, and lots of it. It did seem to take some of the sting out of the burn..
Banana boat made some blue sunburn goop I tried once in Mexico that was pretty good. And you can't be spray on Lidocane either...

Wear taller socks next time! (honestly, socks? in a kayak?) For now, the folks in the aloe, lots of water for hydration, and some anti-inflammatory meds camp are giving advice that works for me. Vinegar did seem to cool things down back in the day, but I'm not sure it did much for healing. Better luck next time and I hope the fishing was good and you feel better soon. Geno
