Mir Seddique, Mateen’s father told NBC News, “this has nothing to do with religion.” Seddique said his son got angry when he saw two men kissing in Miami a couple of months ago and thinks that may be related to the shooting.
“We are saying we are apologizing for the whole incident. We weren’t aware of any action he is taking. We are in shock like the whole country,” Seddique said.
Meanwhile, a man who answered the phone at Mateen’s address, Mustafa Abasin, told NBC News: “We are in shock and we are said.” He would not say how he knew Mateen, but said he was helping investigators.

Lone wolves are a needle in the haystack. A person susceptible to a radicalize version of Islam is very difficult to identify, especially with the internet.

I'm not a cop hater but I fail to see how spending more money on urban assault vehicles would have changed a single thing about this caper...

What might have changed it though is for some of our multi billion $ gubment agencies to have done the job we pay them to do instead of being so friggin afraid of offending someone or being accused of profiling... Rushing in with a bunch of armored vehicles and would be commandos after the fact instead of being proactive and doing something about these actors once they're aware of them offends the hell out of me....
