Very nice Porkypine. Utah or Arizona maybe?

Short video from this year's Big Horns trip. Most is from my drone. Some handheld. The bear was 1710 yards out and late afternoon. Pretty crappy video of him.

Ivan,
Hairpin is an old favorite of mine also. Amazing cutt's for such a high altitude lake.

The Hellroaring chain of lakes bellow Hairpin have terrific brookie fishing, not much for size but quantity and fine dining are hard to beat!

Best of luck to you in your battle with cancer!

Are those lakes easy to get to?

I was going to take my daughter this year. She's 9.

I'm a water person. I need to be around it often. Outside from 3.5 years in Texas - I've always lived very close to large bodies of water so I travel down to the waterfront where I live rather often too. (4 blocks)

Been working on a plan to get together a little fish camp up by these places. Not on the water necessarily but surrounded by it. Was up there yesterday on the bike - just love the area. It's like a 1950's field and stream article all the time...

I don't think this place has a bait less than 6 inches long. AMAZING tackle shop.

I'm going to have to add this one to my list. Funny thing is I've driven by this lake for over 20 years always heading someplace "better" thinking someday I'd have to check it out.

Hour drive from home and looks like there should be some nice rainbows in it, though they seemed to suffer mid-day lock jaw.

Trav, I just now saw this so yes. About 3 1/2 miles but nothing too steep. For young people, that is. GS Zach was about six the first time we went so your gal should do great! Good fishing!

The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

I have - just not been very successful at it. Tho I fish it with walleye gear here and there. I need to get serious about it.

2 years ago I had a red/white hula popper get smashed hard by a big ski. Fought her to the boat and as I was reaching down to grab the damn thing, she rolled, was as thick as a rail road tie and got off.

Going by where her head/tail was on the boat and looking at a lot of reproductions yesterday in the various musky shops - 48-51 inches if it was a single one.

45 minutes later in a different part of the lake - I had my lure get freight trained. Smashed hard, we fought a few mins - never saw this one but felt as big as the first. Snapped my 50lb braid.

That's my best musky story/day. 2 really good fish in a couple of hours.

I have this desire to buy a cabin up in the Eagle River/St. Germaine area and just fish them heavy. Family and I do a lot of small mouth fishing but I'd give that up to hunt musky full time.

HAHA. That's funny. And busting on a "popper" had to be fun.

I love making fun of the midwest but the fishing there is second to none.
