Nosler manual suggests 3.495" COAL which takes the case mouth past the cannelure. At around 3.600", you're able to crimp into the cannelure. Two questions: 1) Did Nosler suggest the shorter COAL because they're concerned it won't chamber at the SAAMI max of 3.600" in some guns given that bullet's ogive; and 2) have others loaded long in a Ruger #1? (If so, what COAL?)

1. You need to concern yourself with where your "COAL"/ OAL is. Pretty plain and simple. Don't pay attention to the cannelure or what other's "COAL" is. Find your lands and stay about .020" off them. By the way, coal is what my dad used to stoke the fire with. Works great....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

i ain't an expert but i don't think you need to worry about crimping when using a single shot like the #1
