I have a 1.25x4 with the amber post on a 375. The reticle is fantastic for low light and quick acquisition.

I have a 1-4 with red post on a Bushmaster Predator .223, excellent rig for called coyotes. I have shot some sub moa groups off bench, target selection is important.....don't use 1" red stickers as a aiming point ! Scope is very durable and fiber optic adjusts perfectly for contrast. Have used in Alaska @ -25 and in Arizona @ 90. Works great in my application.

the dot ones have dots so small as to be a waste of time
Says you. Bob, if you'll recall, I used the "waste-of-time" dot/crosshairs version on my brown bear hunt. It was a godsend on that hunt. Not that illumination via battery wouldn't have worked, I just wanted to keep it simple. Would like to hear more about your bear hunt and the Trijicon scope reticle you used and what caliber rifle! AMRA Not SKane, but as I recall, he was armed with a Rem 700 of 35 Whelen persuasion. I could be wrong. Per always, you are on the money. AMRA, it was indeed a 35 Whelen. The scope was of 3x9 flavor with green dot/duplex. It was admittedly a little too much scope but I rationalized that I'd get more use out of it down the road than the smaller version. Though the 40mm allowed for a little more light gathering and I surely needed it.

Can't help Bob as I will be using the same POS low light Leupold 1.5-5x as I used in Alaska this year, for buff/sable next year and brownies again in 2018. My Dad always called me hard headed... Ed, I used and use this scope for my buffalo and other future hunts... good lighting conditions. I upgraded mine to the 30mm Ill reticle option, but I have to tell you IT SUCKS in low light. I experimented with it a lot down here hog hunting at our lease in south Georgia and you basically give up at least 20 minutes of hunting at dawn or dusk. Great scope, but not for low light conditions. J
A good principle to guide me through life: “This is all I have come to expect, standard lackluster performance. Trust nothing, believe no one and realize it will only get worse…”

I have a 1-4 with green tip post and consider it an excellent choice for fast shots at moving game or close quarters. Have it listed for sale only to fund another project.
