I am thinking about dropping a short 700 in a hunters edge with a #1 lilja and would like to know what my approximate weight will be. I would keep it around 22" with a short shank. Anyone done something similar that could give me an idea? Most likely chambered in 6.5 creedmoor or 7-08. Thanks.

I would suggest a #2 or #3 Lilja and short shank it. Whack It off at 22 inches or 23 inches. It will balance right around the front action screw. Exact weight I'm not certain.

I don't think you can get less than 6lbs without bases, rings, and scope.

He very well might, particularly if he thought about the Winchester featherweight contour barrel, which was used in the rifle shown below.

If you are trying to go as light as possible, also replace the bolt shroud/firing pin assemble with a PTG or Gretan which gets you another couple ozs. I'm thinking you could get it under 6 lbs by 2-3 ozs.

This one is 6 lbs 8 ounces with a 20" Rock mtn contour in a Ti stock,
with a VX-II 2x7 in Talleys.
