I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I'm at work and don't have the convenience of doing a thorough search.
I've owned the classic, really liked it and have another on order. Right now my gun is naked and thinking of picking up a used SL.
I know the SL has a cheek piece, but other than that is there much of a difference? Forend, grip, or comb height?
Thanks

Short or Long Action?? I'm a huge fan of a Classic Edge especially with a short action rifle. Pretty sure thats all I have on all my rigs currently except my Ti. The SL is also nice, if I ever built a long action rifle I'd sure like to use a SL. It does feel different when you have both side by side. The SL is a bit longer overall, its also got a bit of a wider fore-end than the Classic - good if going with a bigger contour barrel.
I think the drop/ comb height is higher on a Classic than the SL at least it felt that way to me. The grip is a lot different on the SL - but in a good way. The SL will likely be heavier by several ozs than the Classic.
If you like the Classic you will probably like the SL - but they aren't that similar thats for sure. Great stock though!! If you can get it for a good deal go for it!!

Thanks for the info. Certainly hard to beat the classic on a SA,like you said.
I ordered my stock about 3 months so maybe it's getting close, but I'm trying a new scope this year and itching to get out there with it.
It might just be worth a try.

I was hoping to learn a little from this thread, also. Are there any side by side pictures out there?

I own both. The SL has slightly larger forend, has small cheek piece, and grip texture. Both are great hunting stocks, but I give the edge to SL due to the texture & feel.
If you wanna see pics of both, I can get on photo-bucket after dinner tonight and post some.

That would be awesome. Is the comb height similar?

That would be awesome. Is the comb height similar? SL is tad higher, guessing like only 1/4" approx. SL stock is approx 3/8" longer also FYI. Both stock are similar, really cant go wrong with either one if building a sporter classic type hunting rifle.

Thanks. I've had a pile of classics and have been wondering about the SL.
