from what I hear you should now be able to pick up housing pretty cheap, well compared to a year or so ago.

lots of tent folding going on in that part of the country from what I hear.

I'm pretty certain when we sing our anthem and mention the land of the free, the original intent didn't mean cell phones, food stamps and birth control.

Really good pheasant, sharpie and waterfowl hunting in that area. Some nice mulies and whitetails too.

If you're a single male pretty tough to meet a quality gal up there. Of course you know about the winters

Patch has slowed down and rents are "lower" than they were, but it's still a little like Ice Station Zebra.
Hopefully you'll score decent lodging at a not-crazy price, and if you like to hunt, it's still pretty good.

That's my old stomping ground. It looks nothing like it did when I left there nearly 30 years ago but it is still a great place for an outdoorsman. You are heading there for the best time of the year! MT may still have some leftover NR deer tags available - check ASAP though. ND is lottery hell for NR rifle hunters but I think you can still get an over the counter archery tag and there are a lot of places to hunt if you work at it. Fall fishing is great if you have a boat and the pheasant and waterfowl hunting are top notch. Once pheasant and archery season ends the first of January it is a long slow crawl until spring rolls around again but when it does you have to try paddlefishing. The short spring season for snagging these prehistoric beasts is intense and memorable.

Expect to pay way higher prices for virtually everything but aside from that if you keep an open mind you'll like the place and the people.

It is not far from world class Prarie dog shooting if that is your thing. If it is not don`t try it as you will never be the same again.
