For no logical reason I have a deep seated urge for a turn handle 250 Savage. I am curious as to what donor you guys might prefer. 22-250 or a 243 Win. or? Re-bore or re-barrel? If this subject has a thread point me there but the search didn't help. Thanks.
I asked this in Custom Rifles and got some good suggestions but no real answer to my question. Probably that was wrong place to ask.
Why does a man who is 50 pounds overweight complain about a 10 pound rifle being too heavy?

22-250 and just get a new barrel screwed on.
The 250 sav,is the parent of the 22-250.

Er shaw has 250 savage barrels. Just put one on my savage rifle this week. 175 bucks or so

Check the mag length before using a .22-250 as a donor, I tried it with a push feed M70 and needed a new mag box for the .250. I'd recommend re-barreling a .243 unless your mag box is long enough.

Why go donor route. Find a tang safety Ruger 77 and use as is....
