The wife and I took the kids to a couple of small creeks nearby to do some bass fishing. Although the kids decided that swimming would be much more fun, Amanda and I ended up having a great day on the water. We caught some fish and I even caught a pretty decent fish considering the location and also considering the kids were swimming just behind us while we fished. The editing process of this video was a bit maddening since we had 3 different cameras going but i hope it turned out well enough for you all to find it entertaining. Let me know what you think.
That was the way I grew up fishing. It is still my favorite way to fish. When you catch a three or four pounder out of a creek no bigger than that, it is something else.

Used to do a lot of that back in Va; "very enjoyable", good to watch after reading the morning news, feels like my blood pressure dropped a few points.

Yes sir! It's very enjoyable and it certainly tames this southern heat.
As a kid, the south branch of the Pigeon River ran though our Wisconsin farm. The Embarrass was not far away. Longer trips to the Upper Wolf and Oconto. Tiny little trout streams beyond counting.
Later in Missouri, the Huzzah and Courtois, Mineral Fork, Little Piney and Big Piney, North Fork of the White and the Eleven Point. All back before the party boats took them over. Now I look for smaller waters on weekdays.

Funny Bowstringer you mentioned that. I have fished the Embarrass River and saw my first sturgeon. Bass fishing was ok but we fished the Red River cause I have land on the Red River in Shawano co . in the Town of Red River. Grandpa bought 96 ac. the barns and house with 1/2 mi. river frontage for $4,800 in 1928. Dang near lost it 2 yrs later. His uncle gave the bank $600 towards his place in exchange for a promise grandpa would not loose the farm. SO, yes, small rivers are a favorite of mine. Cast a " French Spinner " behind a big old rock and a smallmouth will be there in August for sure.

Thanks for sharing. Looks like fun. I like using poppers for topwater creek smallies. An honest 3lb + creek smallie is quite a handful on UL gear, but most are "footers".
