Looked at a custom built rifle in .348-06 AI today and can't finduch info online.
Rifle with reloading dies, some ammo and brass for $400.
Not exactly sure what action it's built on, but appears to be something like a Mauser.
Worth buying or crap caliber?

Never heard of it.
Since it's bracketed on both sides by commercial rounds with oodles more bullets available, it seems like a silly notion to me, unless it's a really nice rifle at such a good price that rebarreling is feasible.
Or, it's possible that it's a misprint of .338-06 AI.
What fresh Hell is this?

Says .348-06 AI on it and the reloading components. Saw a couple references to the round on Google.

Bullet selection would suck compared to 338-06 or 35 Whelen

I'd see if they have a 9 iron available, it would probably be more useful.

Sounds REAL custom to me. Bullet selection would suck compared to pretty much any other cartridge in existence. The only bullet in 348 I can think of that isn't a FP or RN is the new 200 Hornady FTX flex tip, and I have 2 348s.....

This rifle sounds kinda like putting an afterburner on a turtle.
Sure, it can be done, but why?

If it's a nice 98 action built right, with a descent stock, send it along with 225 bucks to JES for a rebore to 9.3-62mm, get you a set of dies for same, some Hornady brass, some 286 gr Partitions and a jug of RL-17.

Someone's ill conceived attempt at a wildcat rifle, for sale for the obvious reason it is a PITA to find loading components. If the rifle is nice enough it may make a good basis for a rebore/rebarrel.

I'd consider it only if built by a famous old-time gunsmith, and intended for the collection vault.

I was thinking the same thing, except maybe a 35 Whelen Improved since the existing rifle is already AI'd. Price seems right if its well put together, then sell off the reloading components to someone that actually wants that caliber, may pay for a lot of the re-bore.
