Then unfairness of him having all those medals gets to me. I mean what a gap between the medal "Have's" and "Have-Not's".
He should be forced to give some of them to people that just aren't as lucky.

I saw an interview where Phelps commented on how boring it is swimming laps hour after hour, day after day, year after year. I don't think I could know I couldn't do it. The guy works hard, you have to give him that. It's not just talent.

The guy works hard, you have to give him that. It's not just talent. Perhaps Phelps was being a bit TIC. Certainly conditioning is an important aspect, and swimmers put in tens of thousands of yards per day. It's reported Phelps swims as much as 80,000 meters per week at the peak of training, and he's not a distance swimmer, who do even more than sprinters. There is so much more to practice than just swimming laps.

80,000 per week...OMG.
When I was in high school, we swam 2,500m in the morning and 4,500m in the afernoon...and that kicked my arse. 80k per week...that's damn impressive.

I just saw Phelps win as I was flipping channels! He also just set a Olympic record for 4 Gold Medals in a row, too.
I'm switching back and forth between the Olymics and pre-season Football.

Phelps is a frigging monster. I grew up swimming and a bit in college too. The guy is incredible. If there was ever a person who fit "Jack of all trades, master of most" it is him.
I always wondered what a swim meet would look like if every competitors swam all the events. Who would win the meet with the most wins? Probably Phelps.
In high school at the IL state meet, I always wondered if I ever would have made finals in the 500 Free if everyone there was competing. Probably not. And Brad Boswell woulda still kicked everyone's ass in anything over 100 yards.
