Okay, I'll submit a few. All those bring back Mausers that found their way into the deer woods. Cut down or replace the stock, get a K-4 on top of it, and go kill some deer. Same with the Springfields and SMLE's.

As mentioned above, the venerable Weaver K-4 El Paso. A good, no frills, working man's scope if there ever was one.

How many kids started out with an H&R single shot? Lots of dead critters courtesy of these guns.

Older 5 1/2 to 7 1/2 horse Johnson's, Evinrude's, and Mercury's. They just run forever.

How many of us still fish with a Mitchell 300? Way outclassed by the newer technology, but buy a couple spare bail springs, and these old reels will run a long, long time.

Really going back here, but how about a military surplus Jeep? Dad and his buddies bought two of them and made one "good" one out of the pair. It was used to drag out stumps, and get back into the depths of the deer woods for about 30 years before it finally died for good. They spent $185.00 for the pair.

My first center fire rifle was a Brno v24 in 8X57IS in standard military configuration for $40.00. The second was a M700 ADL in 270 Win with a old (brass ring) Bushnell 4x scope for $150.00

I purchased these during mid 1980's while in college.

Bought a 1947 jeep in 1976 for 500.00. Used it on lease for 6yrs, sold it for a 1000.00.

most obvious one lately has been the Yugo mauser I bought that cost less than $300 including shipping and ffl fees, and controlled round feed. can't beat that for $300!


also, swiss army knives, lee reloading stuff, mission bows, used Toyotas, Remington 870s, marlin and ruger 22's.

Coleman lanterns and camp stoves were/still are a pretty good deal.

You'd have a hard time time wearing one out. I found the lantern my Grandpa bought to use in the barn a few years ago and after cleaning it up and replacing about 10 bucks worth of parts it works great.

It was made in 1941 so I think we've gotten our monies worth out of it.
