I bought a new Browning A-5 12 magnum in 1984. I have used it for everything all these years. It is a little heavy but helps me swing through birds. If I buy another it will be a Light 12. My Mag cycles dove loads fine. I have tried some O/Us a Beretta and a Rem 3200, and an 870 and 1100.
I just like the browning better.

I kind of grew up on an A-5. You writers have it right. In the '80s, I bought a used plain barrel 870 12 ga for cheap, traded the barrel in on a 26" 3" VR extra light barrel w/chokes that R marketed for a while. I have a Pigeon Grade Superposed that fits me like a custom build. I carefully duplicated that pitch, cast, and drop into the 870 and a Benelli Montefeltro 20. I can switch between the three guns and never miss a beat.

Good thread,

Jack

Winchester 1200. This old shotgun fits me perfectly, never failed in any way. I have three barrels for it a 30 inch full choke for turkeys, a 22 inch cylinder bore for birds, rabbits and deer hunting. It is drilled and tapped for a remington 742 scope base and combined with the no choke barrel it will put Winchester slugs into 3 inches at 75 yards.
