Buy a bag of tick granules for 15 bucks and put them out around the base of your house. No new ants coming across.
I used to have a quarterly deal with terminix for inside pests for 80 a quarter. They never got rid of my ants completely. Half a bag of tick granules twice a year. No more ants and no more terminix. I have not seen 1 ant in my house since I started putting out the granules.

I'm trying a mix of peanut butter and borax on our ants since they seem to look for protein and fat. I also mixed in a little oil drained off from breakfast sausage. Will see how it works, but the ants are all over it right now. I cut a bunch of cardboard squares and dabbed them with the mix to place along their travel routes and at their mounds.
