Has anyone run the Hornady 175gr ELD-X, in a 280 AI? I am having one built soon, and thinking about running this bullet.
If you have, what velocities are you getting with these, and what kind of accuracy?
Also is there any advantage of running the 175 vs the 162 in the 280 AI?

I think the 162 is a better fit, the 175 is gonna eat up a lot of case capacity...If your gonna run the 175 I would be thinking 8 or 8.5 twist...you should be able to run the 162 around 2950 or a little better..

Same thought I would use the 175 in the RM and 162 in the AI even though the velocities are close to each other. One use for the 175 though is to keep the velocity lower as I have heard the best performance level for the ELD-X is around 2500 to no more than 2800 fps.

I have shot about 15 rounds in my standard 280 Rem with the 175 ELD-X loaded with Reloder 26. They shot very well and on the LabRadar averaged 2858fps.

2500-2800 fps. Are you talking M.V., accuracy issues, or terminal velocity, bullet performance on target,....and where did you hear this? Thanks

Venatic, if you're getting accuracy with that I'd dick with it no more.

They could probably do well down to 1800 fps or even less. Also an accuracy node but that is much higher around 2,950 fps. But this is second hand information.
