I prefer classic. Semper Fi I used to run with the hare. Now I'm envious of the tortoise and I do my own stunts but rarely intentionally

I'd say it does. I've had good accuracy with 50 gr of IMR 4895 or 4064 and 150 gr bullets. Never tried them with 180s. Any idea of velocity?

If I'm reading right the charge looks stiff. What is the chrono telling you?

I normally shoot 5, but since I didn't write it down on the target, ???? -- I can't guarantee 5,but I believe it was 5.
That group was shot while the rifle was still wearing a K4.

If I'm reading right the charge looks stiff. What is the chrono telling you? It is a little stiff, perhaps. I've found that maximum accuracy often happen near top loads with several of my rifles. The 06 is a great cartridge without going over the standard pressures. However, in the quest for maximum accuracy I've found that I need to load as hot as other similar cartridges are loaded. I probably would not go this hot in a 03 or a Winchester lever action or even 7400. But I think the 7400 would handle it just fine. The 721 handles the load fine and I get many reloads with this recipe. I wish that some respected authority such as some writer in 24hourcampfire would develop +P for the 06. That would make it easier to know where to stop for those of us that do not have the ability to get actual pressure data and desire "best" loads.

It does deer in OK though. Not to argue, but, just out of curiosity, why hunt Whitetail with a 180 gr?

Is that a measured chrono number, or software output?

Some writer at 24hourcampfire has developed +P loads for the 30-06. That individual is Mule Deer. Check out his latest book at his website.

I did this very same thing 30 some years ago. My bullet is the 180 grain Hornady "spire point" with 56 grains of IMR 4350. Old name for the interlock. It's killed everything I shot at here in the lower 48 & South Africa.

Is that a measured chrono number, or software output? Sorry! I committed plagiarism. That came from LOADDATA.com. Load there came from Asquare.

It does deer in OK though. Not to argue, but, just out of curiosity, why hunt Whitetail with a 180 gr? 1. It works well. 2. I used to use 150 & 165 grain bullets. Having a Sierra Game King 165 grain bullet fail to penetrate into the rib cage of a doe, that is stopping in her shoulder, I went to 180 grain bullets and have limited bullet selection to a few types. The Horanady Interlock being my favorite. My questions are: Why not use a bullet that has worked very well for many hunts? And, "Why use premium bullets when this inexpensive bullet has performed flawlessly?

That group was shot while the rifle was still wearing a K4. Looks great bugger. I'd say you have a great load there. I'd use that on whitetails, muledeer, blacktails, jackrabbits, elk, bear, moose, antelope, targets, should I keep going???? Why would anyone think that would not work on a damn whitetail? That should be the fn question of the day.
