This is a slide show with photos of the inside of a $53 mill private jet. PRIVATE JET The Southwest planes I've been on don't look like this.

It's one of the 'smaller' ones so it can land at more of the small resort airports. Some years ago, some rich guy from CA sued the Sun Valley, ID airport because they wouldn't let him land his big Boeing 737 jet. The plane was too large for FAA specs. The runway asphalt was too thin and the runway too narrow. He owned 2 jets and the smaller one could land but he decided he wanted to land his big one. He actually expected them to rebuild the runway just for him. He lost, of course. LAWSUIT

If they took ALL the money from the 1%, which is 1.1 trillion dollars, it couldn't even pay the student loan debt in America with is 1.3 trillion. Yes they are rich, but this is what the communists found out when they took over a country, starting with Russia. Once you take everything from the rich and try to "spread the wealth around", it quickly runs out, and everybody is POOR.

Best thing is to create JOBS. Roosevelt (FDR) realised this. He knew the rich didn't have enough money to help the masses. So, he created JOBS programs. Unlike the brainwashed young people today.

Even the top 2%, 100% of their money would only pay the federal budget for a little over ONE year.

This is just a ploy for Democrats (communists) to get votes from the masses.

The guy I mentioned who sued the airport got his in construction. There's nothing wrong with that but his attitude was a big problem. He expected everyone to kiss his backside. A lot of other rich people would just follow the rules and get along just fine.

How is that different from those that are sitting on their collective arse stealing "legally" instead of going out and bending their back and applying some sweat for their own livelihood.

I caddied golf tournaments back in college for some $$$ and met some cool people. One guy comes to mind, Paul. Older guy, foreign background, but very nice and polite. Caddied a particular tournament two years in a row, and was in his group both years.

The first year talked about what he did and found he owned 20something car dealerships. Had a single engine Piper plane he used for short trips. The following year he had sold all his dealerships and got into commercial real estate and still had his Piper, but also bought a Cessna Citation (don't remember exactly which model) for $7M. His justification for it was he was tired of the airlines - completely agree with that. Just hangar and maintenance alone was $400k a year.

Most everyone at the matches were in a good mood since they're all out to have fun golfing, but some were even dicks then. Depending on who it was I'd get tipped $20 each at a minimum, but Paul would whip out $100. The second year he handed me a $100 bill, looked at his wallet, then gave me another $100 bill. Cheap ass (Toranto Blue Jay) Joe Carter was the only person to ever stiff me - and that was after he'd been bragging about how much money he won at the casino the night before.

Out of HS I worked at the San Jose Jet Center refueling private planes and jets and met a lot of people. CEOs, owner of the A's, 49ers, and whatever the others did. Some were pr!cks and some were really cool.

Talked to the pilots one day when the A's daughter was flying up to Tahoe with her husband, think it took them 21 minutes to get there, only because of the 250knot speed limit under 10k feet or it would have been 17 minutes so they said. Must be nice.

They, or someone along the way, went out and stole with much energy, focus and purpose. That's the difference and reward.

Your title is wrong. I'd say the owner of something like this would be in the top 1/10 of 1%. Probably more like the top 1/100th.

The liberals want to break the rich people. However, the guy who sued the airport made his in construction. He had a lot of people in his employ while he got rich. He might have been a butthead but those employees were all hard working people just trying to feed their families. If the government took his money, how many could he employ? How many jobs would be lost and how many more would be on the public dole.?

Criticizing someone who has wealth is not the same as someone who is arrogant and demanding. Someone who is both has his/her own issues. But there is nothing wrong with wealth and the use they put it to.

Your post points out that people are individuals, rich or not.

Among people who made their own wealth, I've found that those whose first priority was to create the best product or provide the best service and got rich along the way are usually pretty decent folks. They loved doing what they did for its own sake, money for them was a nice byproduct but mostly just a way of keeping score.

Then there are those whose goal in life was to make as much money as possible any way possible - lie, cheat, steal - anything was okay as long as it made money. Lots of times those folks do get very rich but they are universally ass-holes of the highest order.

Money or having money is not evil by itself, the love of money is the root of all evil. Hillary Clinton is a prime example of that...

Have you ever been up there during the Allen & Co. conference? They shoe horn in so many private jets you could hardly walk through them. Big pile of money.....not sure what it brings to the local economy.

I'm sure most of the one percenters get up each morning and wonder, "How can I employ the most people and give them a meaningful life?" Just after they have that thought tucked away, they wonder, "How can I help our country best deal with all the issues facing it?" I'm sure. I once worked on a project where the owner of a construction company claimed to have built a bridge. BS! a dozen or less men worked ten to 18 hours a day, seven days a week,in hot, cold, rain, and snow to build that bridge and he wasn't one of them. The money didn't come from him either; it came from the taxpayers. In their off time the men wondered how they could deal with constantly being cheated on their pay checks. GD

They always had the choice to quit. Simple really.

One time while this conference was in session, I actually stopped on the highway and counted the business jets parked on both sides of the runway...about 75 of them. I can't fathom how much money was sitting there. They had just released the Batman movie that Schwarzenegger was in. He had his jet there, painted black with "Batman World Tour" in huge red letters down the side.

At the south end of the airport is a cow pasture. Some years ago the FAA decreed that the airport needed an additional 40 acres for a buffer zone at the end of the runway. The farmland was owned by the rancher in the small modest house there. They went to him to offer to buy the bare land. He agreed to sell at the appraised price, which turned out to be $100k/acre. So, he sold them the 40 acres for $4 mill. They had no choice but to pay it. He leases it back from them for the pasture. He usually has a few horses or cows on it. Nothing changed other than the ownership. It's still a cow pasture but he has a pile of cash in the bank.

Which allowed him to write the trip off as advertising. grin They didn't get rich by not understanding the system.

Class envy is even more dangerous than racism in this country. You want to be rich? Figure it out. With all it's issues America is still the land of opportunity and multi-millionaires are made, or started to be made, every day. Most efforts involve long term approaches and blood-sweat-tears.

There are dicks and all income levels and for every rich one that feels entitled there is a poor one who feels entitled one. The things they are entitled to do often differ though. grin

Schwarzenegger has a house there in Hailey so he didn't make a trip just for the conference. I'm sure he found a way to write it off, though.
