Thanks Doc
I got my 336a Marlin 30-30 from my father in law today. I talked to the people at the Cody Museum today. When I gave them the serial number they told me it was made in 1951. Father in law kept the 3336a in 444.
Troy,
The 50's era Marlins are very well made, the barrels were cut rifled up to 1955/1956. Just be sure the magazine tube is not binding from the receiver hole to the barrel stud. I very tight tube will greatly effect your accuracy. Glad you grabbed the 30-30, ammo and components are always available.
Not sure if your rifle is drilled for scope use but if you intent to scope the 336-A give the Talleys extra low bases a look, provides you perfect eye alignment to the scope eye piece.
