There are plenty of ways to steal legally but not morally. If it's legal it ain't stealing. Period. Remember that when some shyster cons your elderly mother into paying for a hugely overpriced item she doesn't need. But it's legal so it's ok, right? He's just a good salesman and your mother is an adult so it's ok, right? Don't tell me that if it's legal it's not stealing. This world is full of thieving scumsuckers who stay just inside the law as they steal people blind. Kinda like this? Criminal. Whether prosecuted, or not.
So one definition of a crook is a person that committed a crime. Anybody else? Dave At what level does a crime make you a criminal? Is driving 70 in a 65 zone make you a criminal?

Your title is wrong. I'd say the owner of something like this would be in the top 1/10 of 1%. Probably more like the top 1/100th. Agree!!! The top of the 1% is in a totally different world than the bottom of the 1%. It only takes about $5 million to be in the top 1% (net worth) and that will not buy, maintain and operate a private jet. Believe me, I know!

What is the cutoff line for the 1% - strictly in terms of annual gross income?

In my case all it means is having about $200 worth of credit left on the card.

A lot of years ago my wife received a credit card with a $5,000.00 limit. I quickly told her that was a limit, not a goal.

I don't think I will be in the top 1% anytime soon. Not even the top 50%.

What is the cutoff line for the 1% - strictly in terms of annual gross income? Estimates vary, but most feel that an annual income of $350,000 will get you into the bottom of the 1%. A net worth of about $5.5 million will get you into the 1% of that category. Being in the 1% annual income wise lets you live well, but being in the 1% net worth wise lets you live secure.

Free money! You'd have to add a bunch of zeros to be able to afford the jet in the OP which was my point in posting it.

Well, I guess if a guy REALLY wanted to join the mile high club, renting one of those would certainly be doing it in style.

There are plenty of ways to steal legally but not morally. If it's legal it ain't stealing. Period. Abortion is legal and it's still murder. Period.

Doesn't hurt to have an accountant with the creativity of a De Vinci and the morals of a clinton either.
I'm an accountant with ample creativity. Just this year I figured out how to take the software capitalization at my company from 60K a year to 4 million. This, in a year when an offset of expenses is sorely needed and as will be done perfectly GAAP approved. I also have a currency exchange reclassification ace up my sleeve if we should need it. I've been able to figure things like that out in every company I've worked at and they love it. Until they want to start into the dark grey areas and I balk and we have to part company.
