I enjoy watching them, so I don't begrudge them a few fish. We get some of the smaller varieties like the Green Heron too.

Never used to see them around here, now they seem to be everywhere. I've seen 3 at one time on our fishing lease. Like seeing them.

This summer I've seen a great egret (same size and looks, just all white) several times. Don't see them often in Nebraska - at least where I've hung out. Tried to get pics, but he's pretty shy.

had one eating the chit out of fish in the tank, when my parents had their ranch, had to end up shooting it from around a 100 yards because if it even heard you it would take off.

Did you let it leave your pond alive?

That's a fact!

Besides the number of fish they eat, is the number of fish they "spear" when in your pond. They may stick a fatal hole in quite a few fish before they end up with one on their beak. mad

Fairly common sight in Ohio.

I love to watch them wading a small creek or pond.

There all over around here. Used to have lots of white egrets too but I haven't seen one of them in awhile.

Got lots of those white egrets too.

Got kingfisher that perches on the water pipe at the fish pond. He raises hell when I go feed the fish. Fusses at me!

I leave him be, though.
