Hello 280shooter,

Thanks for the reply.

When people ask me what kind of "cannon" I hunt with, I direct them to my web page.

BTW, 280 is my favorite small caliber. smile

He may not have mentioned the person responsible for doing the research but I didn't read it as anything other than Buckstix relaying the story of a cool old rifle that he bought.

Wow, just caught up with the entire thread - that is an incredible find along with solid documentation. So much to absorb. Take care of that rifle!

Hello bigwhoop,

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, this is one of my favorite double rifles. Its really neat to shoot something that actually hunted in Africa and killed 2 man eating lions.

buck, you likely saw my post regarding envy and suckitude levels. I have an inkling of your position. I love Sharps Rifles. I own an original 45/110 that was actually used as a buffler rifle in Wyoming from 1878-1883. I WISH that I knew the hunters name. Lost in time. I did go back to the region in Wyoming in 2012 and killed a buffler with the rifle. Hard to describe how it feels to look over the sights at its intended game after over a century. It is a real gas to be able to do things like that as I am certain you know. Thank you for a glimpse of adventure and history you lucky bastard!!! grin

Hello hatari,

Thanks for the reply.

Too many favorite guns to take hunting, and not enough season for them all. Its really getting hard to choose which ones go - and which ones have to stay home.
