Not to sound as a smart ass, but the difference is 4-16x50 and 6-24x70. Both are made in the same facility in Wetzlar by Zeiss. One has the Zeiss name and the other Hensoldt name. Originally, Zeiss was consumer model and Hensoldt was the Military model.
Power and objective is the difference. The "new" Hensoldt is owned by Airbus, those scopes are marked FF. To the best of my knowledge ZF is old stock. Where Airbus is building the new scopes, I am not sure. But considering Zeiss sold the line to Airbus, that's my bet. I know of four optical factories in Wetzler: Zeiss, Leica, Minox & Befort.
No, it's not. Tubes are 34mm on the Henny. The coatings are different. The turrets are similar but not the same. The 4-16 Hensoldt has a 56 mm objective. The reticles are different .
The 6-24x72 are almost identical except for the coatings and the seals. The turrets vary a bit as well, but that is mostly an external shape/cosmetic difference.
The 4-16x are different designs. The 4-16x50 Zeiss FL and the 4-16x56 Hensoldt ZF have nothing in common in terms of design parameters, etc.
