As I was thinning my collection I came across this Winchester Model 12 Skeet that I had forgotten I had. I haven't fired it since immediately after I purchased it years ago. I see values all over the place so I'm wondering what one of these might bring. It's in pretty good condition for it's age. I believe it dates to 1927. The only thing that looks like it isn't original is the Pachmayr recoil pad. What say you experts? Not looking to sell yet until I know more about it and It's value. I'd probably keep it if it were chocked for trap shooting.

Anybody have any insight into the model 12? I've seen pricing from the $400 range on up above $1000. I have a few older pricing books but even they vary a good bit from book to book. Just want an idea on a price range to consider. Is there even any demand for these?

The gun has been refinished and the rib is not original. The checkering looks pretty good but as you stated, that's not the correct pad. The WS1 choke is desirable but "Skeet" is a grade, not a choke. It's not a Model 12 Skeet. It's a Model 12 with a skeet choke. Anyone interested in this gun will want it as a shooter. Demand will be based on price. Realistically, I think you're looking at $500.

Thanks for your help Bobmar. I'm trying to learn as much as I can about my collection. What exactly makes the skeet grade different from the standard model 12? I thought the forearm was part of it, but what else would be present that I'm missing? Also what was the clue to the refinishing? I'd really like to further my knowledge here. Thanks.
