Seems like I never have the right one around when I need it. I'm looking for an assortment that I can use around the ranch and on implements, equipment and such. Does anyone know where a good source for that would be? Many thanks!

I used to sweep up whole bucket loads while on the highway!

Barry, not sure about the bolts - but you've found the nuts!

I just go buy handfuls of all the common stuff from a local farm store that sells it bulk by weight. And then I never have the 3" bolt when I need it. Have a 2" and a 2 1/2" and a 4".....
We get good service from a local mom and pop bolt supplier at work. I bet one of those could give you a quote after discussing what you're looking for.

Have you ever re-drilled and tapped something to a larger size simply because you had the larger bolt on hand?

Kar Products. They will sell you whatever assortment you want ... with bins. If you have a local route man he will come by monthly and restock them. NOT cheap though.

Have you ever re-drilled and tapped something to a larger size simply because you had the larger bolt on hand? Worse than that... I was roading the big tractor and shredder the other day, and saw I was missing 2 bolts that retain the kingpins on 2 of my wheel assemblies... Of course I didn't have the right bolts 35 miles from the house. I improvised. Got it all lined up and dropped in 2 60d nails and bent them to retain the kingpins. You know the type nails... The ones we use for control points.

I bought a couple of these. Then a couple more. Then another. And it I get one more, I'll have all my fastener, and similar, stuff together. lol They're pretty nice. The front and sides both have closures, and they hold a lot of weight. The bins come out to be taken to the job without all the weight of the whole thing having to be lugged around.

Almost frightening what a spartan inventory of good fasteners will set one back these days. Guess one needs to quantify what that 2 hour lost time run into the closet burg is worth. Keeping one's stock organized is a time alligator, as well. I'm pretty happy with our local Tractor Supply,... Their mid grades (5) are pretty fair quality. GTC

One trip to the local farm supply with a wad of cash and buy some of everything by the pound. The only way to go. One and done for 95% of everyday tasks.

I don't keep a model stock, but I do have several large containers of nuts and bolts, and can usually match up and fit anything I need around the casa.
