He got interested in his race when he saw how much free publicity Trump was pulling in and he decided to join in. First he thought backing Trump would get him on camera more, then he realized that what the media really wanted was someone to trash Trump on cue.
He tried to make it sound like he's an independent but the garbage he's spouting about trump shows he's just in is for the free TV time.
