I am very new to shotshell reloading, and have an Ithaca 500 with IC/Mod that I want to use for close shots on Woodcock and Grouse. I am currently loading 2 3/4in 1oz #8's for clays. I was looking at trying spreader loads and these Polywads intrigue me. I understand that you need to reduce your shot load by 1/8oz, but what about powder charge??

Also, anyone care to share their reloading/patterning experiences with these or alternatives?

thanks.

Have you looked at the ones from Ballistic Products?

I used to make spreaders by adding a couple of overshot wads in the column or thin cardboard X's similar to the X-Stream from BP. They seemed to work, but I never did a scientific test. frown
