We started boarding up friend's houses this morning who will be leaving town. Drove by the public boat ramp and it was a mad house, glad mine is already out.

in north georgia, we're needing the rain squalls off a good hurricane, or two, so badly that we don't know hardly what to do.

dry, dry, dry. time for hurricane season, and their deluge of rain that falls in the outer bands.

they are part of the eco-system. their reality encourages our continued existence, if we want to flush out the apalachicola bay on ocassion. (we all know that spelling is not what i do best).

We are in Venice on the SW coast. It is supposed to be pretty much East coast to center line of the state; here's hoping! Stay safe on the East coast.

good thinking. hurricanes come our way every year or two. they are pretty much std isue this time of the year. they always bring a degree of excitement given the mass media.

if an annual hurricane event can't be converted into an entertaining media event, what good are they?

my answer: they bring rain, in their outer bands of rain squalls to the countryside that oh so need rain to recharge the land, streams, aquifers, and lakes.

but please don't mention any of that to the rank & file. right now, hurricanes are being cast as evil, because it sells.

I haven't seen rain in well over a month. I can't remember the last time I mowed the lawn, likely late August.

They are predicting fairly high winds here but the potential for rain is still a guess. More than likely, we will get the wind with little to no rain, especially since we need it. You never can tell with these things, though. I hate for the folks down east and south.

yep. hurricane (Hurry-Cane) season happens every year to some extent.

we need it. but it doesn't always help. forget the federal flood-control people. they're milking the system.

just like folks getting burned out of their high-priced homes out west.

they invest, but expect the federales to bail them out. but, we have a precident, General Motors, the Banks, and now once again the storm ravaged people. belly up, folks, you're going to ask to pay, and you won't even notice it. oh, btw, most of us are socialists, and will probably vote for hillary. ok?

I have the condo in Miami, and my wife is down there now. We are right on Biscayne bay. The building is 35 stories, and built to handle a Cat 5 Storm. We will see. I stocked the unit with water, Mountain House and other food, two stoves, and the other usual supplies.
I am up in our North Florida home. Looks like we will get some of Matthew as well. I am as prepared as anyone could be. My Daughter and her family are in Jax, where it looks like right now, they are in the center of the cone.

just please remember, there's a ton or more of ecological good that comes from a seasonal hurricane, especially if it comes far enough ashore or inland.

not a popular thought, but when did the news media ever give a damn about the ecology of the earth?
