Took the boy to our deer camp in WI and did a little scouting and a bunch of work. There's no question about it...he worked his butt off. And slept the whole way home. grin

This is fun for both of us because it's a new spot not really hunted by us. I did last year a bit but never really got into a bunch of spots. We're not digging deeper into the woods, putting up more cameras and learning some patterns. And Jack is learning how to be a woodsman, learning some deer movements, patterns, wind directions...fun stuff.

We do have a ton of daylight pictures of small bucks too. There is one daylight pic of a real nice 8pt, width to the ears and heavy rack. He's pretty fired up about that one!

That's cool Tom !!

This weekend, my brother & I & our families, watched the Australian Rules Football (AFL) grand final on Saturday night. We ate home made meat pies with "mushy peas" & Holbrooks Black sauce (Worcestershire sauce). Perhaps a coupla coldies were consumed !

Good times, along way from our birth place !

not the best pic, but he is the heaviest buck I think I've ever seen and he has good width to him. he had 12 does with him so he was one of the dominant ones in the area.

Hey Ryan, have you got a entrance/exit shot of that guy, with skin off ?

Somebody posted one, from a VLD, on the deer holes thread & I was wondering if it was normal, or an anomaly !

Last night during the FB game Jack was acting a bit goofy. Even for him. I asked what his deal was. As he was bouncing around the living room he said "I'm just really, REALLY, excited for deer season to get here. It's a long time til November."

Yes, sir... I have succeeded! smile

I reminded him that the youth hunt at Chickenbuck is only a few weeks out and his eyes lit up the room.

We spent all day in the woods on Sunday and he's getting the hang of things in the area. We're still learning it. But he's doing a great job of sorting it all out.

We broke out the .22's and made some shots too. We'll do more this weekend. I don't think either one of us can wait.

it's a WY buck.
sorry no pics of entrance/exit, but they worked and he died quickly. It was pretty warm out so I broke him down quickly to get him on ice. I plan on using the same load on elk whenever I get a chance to go out. I'll get pics of those when I get one.

Really great,Ryan.
Antelope is the absolute best tasting meat there is.
So far I have been up in the tripod stand three times and only have seen squirrels consuming my corn piles.(Baiting is legal in South Carolina) I'll bet next year I will have some 40 pound squirrels out there.

Not a phone, more of a yodel. I heard it this morning while I was out checking the bullshit gauge.

Nearly a foot, according to the gauge.
