I haven't paid much attention to the acorns this year but the persimmons are plentiful. I have a large persimmon tree but could never figure out what to do with them ? I hang a tree stand over them. i hope the mountains where i hunt are as loaded as my house. headin' out squirrelin' next weekend. i'll be hitting the hickory bottoms first thing in the morning. been low mast down there the past few years. hoping for a bumper crop this year.

Hoping for far less acorns this year, as they were crazy here last year. Made hunting rather tough. Last year was easily my toughest season of the last decade. When it happens, we just switch to hunting whatever they happen to be feeding on that year. Here they like pin oaks the best so I go hunt pin oak trees on heavy acorn years...works great.
We can keep Larry Root and all his idiotic blabber and user names on here, but we can't get Ralph back..... Whiskey Tango Foxtrot, over....

Right out of the tree no - too much tannic acid in them. Eating one or two would be OK but too many will be toxic. Water leaching by soaking or boiling in water until the water doesn't turn brown will make them edible. Can also be ground into flour.
