Can anyone recommend some place that does a good job repairing/restoring old Redfield scopes?

Try IRONSIGHTINC.COM
Rebuild for $95, but usually have a very long backlog.

^^^^^ THIS ^^^^^

I have had Redfield and Weaver scopes rebuilt by Ironsightinc. They do great work, but they had my scopes for between 12 and 15 months. If you're not in a hurry, I highly recommend them.

One note, if you decide to have the reticle changed, the German style reticle is really, really, really heavy/thick. Great for short range, low-light, conditions, but too coarse (at least for me) for anything over one hundred yards or so.

I have had quite a few Redfields and other brands repaired by a company in Florida named ABO. They may not still be open, but they would completely re furbish my old Redfields to like new condition. They also did several old Weavers also.
ABO wasn't very fast, but not more than a month or so.

I will look to see if I have an old receipt from them with their charges etc. and post it or send it to you.

Yep, that's the place. Their prices were reasonable if I remember right.
I had an old Redfield 6x-18x AO with a bent tube and they straightened it, polished the glass and re-gassed it for under $100.00. I have also had several Redfield wide view scopes with broken cross hairs (duplex) that people were going to throw away and they fixed them up like new, and I am still using one of them after 10+ years.
